I had a crush on Pete Duel after watching Alias Smith and Jones reruns. It's a shame that he died so young.

I wasn't aware of it at the time that it happened. I found out later after watching Smith and Jones in syndication. I was shocked, too.

It was really tragic that Pete Duel died like that, he was such a talented man.

He was very talented and wanted to make the world a better place, and we lost a lot when he left this world.

I remember it because we could only get one channel, an NBC affiliate, and it was an NBC program.

We had to watch whatever WXII 12 broadcast, including Lawrence Welk reruns after the news, or not watch anything at all. Shudder.

We only had three channels back then, which I thought was bad enough! One must've been so restrictive, but at least you got a few decent shows!

We're in Northwest NC, which features foothills, mountains, hollows, and narrow valleys. With the tech back then, it was hard to get the signal through that terrain.

LOL-my cousins one county over could get CBS!

I know some rural areas in the UK only used to get one channel back in the 'good old days'!!

I must admit, I had to read the comments to see who I was. I never watched Alias Smith and Jones. But he's a very fine looking gent. He died young? What a terrible shame.

With Ben, I'm really showing my age LOL. I had quite the soft spot for Alias Smith and Jones, it might've been one of my earliest experience with the concept of a Bromance. It was Pete Duel who died young, sadly he committed sucide.

Ben Murphy is still alive and has had a busy career. He must be in his late 70s by now. His co-star Pete Duel is the one who died young.

Alias Smith and Jones only lasted 2 seasons. It was very popular the first season because of the chemistry between Duel and Murphy, but floundered in the second season after Duel was replaced by another actor. I've only seen an ep or 2 without Duel, and, despite Murphy, they're just not that good.
