Points to lack of banner!

Ok Photobucket you git give em back! Ladies it seems I'm the latest victim of the great Photobucket rip off, can any of you suggest an alternative that's easy for a technophobe to manage, as I sit here seething gently. I want my banner back! It took me ages, and driving poor milly_gal up the wall to learn how to put one on my journal, and now you thieving sods are holding it to ransom.

They're really screwing up big time. I changed most of my pics already that appear on my journal and profile page to my scrapbook links.
Milly's suggestion is a good one.

I still can't even process how they've got the sheer effrontery to expect us to pay $400 annually for their shitty, pop-up infested service. I haven't tried any experiments yet, but I do have accounts at both Slickpic and Imgur, so they might be worth a try.

My banner is still in place, so I obviously didn't use Photobucket to post it, but do you think I can bloody remember how I did it????

I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with this.They are going to piss off so many people, I'll be looking at some of the other sites and see what I want to do.

I would suggest LJ's scrapbook. I think you get free space even if you don't have a paid account. The only weird thing with scrapbook is the image you see in your library is a low rez placeholder, you have to actually click on it to see your full rez upload.

But use the little green tv shape insert photo button in LJ when you do a post and it will let you upload a picture, create a new album or add a photo to an existing album and add it into your post all at the same time. Or if you've uploaded it already the green tv shape will also let you browse through your library.

Your images could also be uploaded to your DW account and crossposted to LJ. Both LJ and DW will allow crossposts to each other, but DW will not allow images to be posted to AO3. So LJ is still the best image hosting choice (Russian legislative issues aside).

The problem with the DW scrapbook is you don't have albums to organize your stuff and it doesn't really have image browsing. YOu have to open a second window, find your image in your DW scrapbook, copy the link and be ready to past it into the right slot in their image posting button (a yellow picture). So it's not as intuitive, but it still works. And EVERYONE no matter if they are paid or not gets 500MB of space on DW.
