I Come Seeking Techinical Help.

Ok so arriving late to the party as usual, I've been attempting my own little banners for some of the fics I'm writing.  Thanks to a tip over at J2 newbies I've used picnik, and it's been great, my only problem is I'm a techno phobe. When I save my banner it's an ideal size for my journal but when I come to upload it it seems to have shrunk and I have to stretch the banner and it affects the image a little.  Does this normally happen or am I missing a step or something?
