A Pox Upon Sky!
Friends, Romans, Fl*sters! I am distraught, the thing I have feared happening has just come to pass. Sky Living has just announced it has dropped Supernatural, and now there will be no legal way to watch season 9 here in the UK. But sadly I’m not surprised, considering the way they have treated the show for the last couple of years.
Now I’m thinking what about if I could no longer get my hands on the show every week? Well it would be bloody messy I’ll tell you that. But more importantly now, what does that mean for DVD distribution rights over here?
Take White Collar for example, Alibi dropped the show and now you can’t get hold of it on region 2. So you have to buy a multi regional DVD player, and import the series from one of the other regions. Will Supernatural go the same way I ask myself?
What about the conventions? Will they carry on in the UK? Are we doomed never to see the boys over here again? Not all of us can afford to travel to foreign fields to see them, although I’m not really using that one kidney *G*
Friends I ask you, do we let our show slip away from us? Will we stand by and whimper softly, at the loss of those bow legs, and floppy hair?
Or will we stand and fight, go to the likes of Netflix and Amazon and beg them to stream our show. Offer them our hard earned cash, and only slightly sullied souls if only they would give us back our boys.
We should band together and show Sky the SPN Family is not lightly cast aside and treated with contempt. In fact this announcement was made worse, by seeing Sky 1 has just brought Star Crossed off The CW. From what I’ve heard about it, it’s a steaming pile of drivel, and they think they’ve got a quality show because it has teenagers from earth and ooh look outer space making goo-goo eyes at one another.
Come on fan girls, band together, scream to the heavens, and rage against the dying of the light. Send Sky messages, and I mean eloquent worded missives telling them they are prats.
We are fandom, hear us roar!
