Yes, it's shocking when a pet leaves our lives without warning. We don't know what to do, and it's so hard. I had one pet this happened to, and I was in so much shock I didn't cry until the next day.
More often, though, a pet will start to suffer, and we can start to grieve then. It's still sad and we still cry when it happens, but sometimes it's better for the pets that are clearly suffering to be put at rest.
Ultimately you end up wanting both, but it just can't be that way.
As for help, absolutely anything at anytime. I went through a horrible period and the only person I felt close to was dealing with her mother's death.
Now, with all of you, I know that I have multiple people who I can turn to, and it's usually not the same person bc I feel that all of us possess different qualities.
I'll always be here. I might be a bit.. unstable sometimes, but even then, I would never turn away from someone needing support.
